Football legend JJ Watt announces retirement

JJ Watt has been arguably the best defenseman in the NFL for over a decade. But after heart troubles, he made a radical decision.

JJ Watt of the Arizona Cardinals is ending his successful career after the current NFL season. The defender, who has been named best defender of the year three times, announced it on Twitter on Tuesday.

Watt has been playing in the National Football League since 2011. The 33-year-old made headlines last October when his heart rhythm had to be restored with electric shocks due to atrial fibrillation. Just three days after the treatment, Watt was back on the court.

The Cardinals have no chance of making the playoffs. There are two more regular season games in the new year with the Atlanta Falcons (January 1) and the San Francisco 49ers (January 8).
