Football holiday. After four years, when Baník Ostrava visited Lanžhot, another first league team will present itself in Břeclavsk. The football players of Sokol will welcome the local Sokol on Wednesday from five o’clock in the afternoon in the duel of the second round of the MOL Cup Zlín. “We are all looking forward to it, it is a big event for our club,” said Lanžhota coach Jaroslav Hílek.

While the cobbler is only waiting for the first match of this year’s MOL Cup, divisional Lanžhot already has two wins behind it. In the preliminary round, they beat Bzenec 3:0, and subsequently knocked out third-league Start Brno at home on penalties. “We subordinated a lot of things to get to this stage of the cup,” said the coach.
Sokol’s implementation team is carefully preparing for a high-profile opponent. “I follow the Czech league in detail, but I have never focused too much on Zlín. It wasn’t until the last few weeks that I looked at what line-up he was starting. My colleague Velický and I will watch the last match with Teplice, which Zlín won,” Hílek revealed.
He faces a big challenge in the coaching duel, his opponent on Wednesday will be Pavel Vrba. “In the three years that I have been training in Lanžhota, I have never had such a coach on the sideline. It’s a big concept for us, we appreciate the fact that someone like that will come to Lanžhot,” said the former first league midfielder.
The former coach of Pilsen, Sparta Prague or Baník Ostrava ranks among the most successful Czechoslovak coaches. “When the Slovak national team didn’t have a coach, I had only two candidates in my head. One was Vlado Weiss and the other Pavel Vrba, who played excellent football with Pilsen. For me, he is still a top coach,” claimed Hílek.

The team from Lanžhot can play in the upcoming derby with Slovácko, which Zlín awaits in the top competition on Saturday. “I think that some more experienced players will save for the weekend derby with Slovácko and give the opportunity to players from the wider squad,” the strategist predicted.
What will his charges enter the cup match with? “I believe we will be on the ball a bit and not just run without the ball. We’re not just going to enjoy the match, the boys have to go and it’s definitely going to hurt. Zlín is a professional club, there is a lot of quality there, a lot of things would have to come together to make them suffer,” concluded Hílek.
