Football: Djurgården drew against Elfsborg without Marcus Danielson

It was set for a football party in over 20-degree Stockholm when Elfsborg visited the city and Djurgården supporters had every reason to celebrate after a 2-0 victory.

Elfsborg came to the Tele2 arena with real confidence after two straight victories and a lead-heavy three-pointer against league leaders Malmö.

The teams entered the grass with substantial interruptions in the form of their captains. Elfsborg’s Johan Larsson sat on the bench due to an illness during the week and Marcus Danielson had a concussion and was out of the match squad.

Without Danielson, many probably thought that it would be noticeably more difficult to keep a clean sheet, but then Jacob Une Larsson and Miro Tenho had to step up instead.

Holmén: “A real crap start”

The first half was characterized by enormous ball possession for Djurgården and Deniz Hümmet had two good goal chances but without getting the ball into the goal.

– In the first half, we are not quite there in the press and end up low. Then we get a real crap start in the second half, says Sebastian Holmén to SVT Sport.

Yes, because in the second half it hit straight away when Besard Sabovic deliciously spot-kicked the ball into the far crossbar.

“Good football from minute one”

– We play very good football from minute one and deserve to score earlier in the match. So very nice to score the first goal and then be able to play a little more calmly, says the 1-0 scorer.

After the lead goal, the ball possession evened out and Djurgården dropped a bit, but in the 70th minute it was Norwegian cooperation when Tobias Gulliksen made it 2-0 after delicious preparatory work by compatriot Gustav Wikheim.
