Food prices in Hungary introduced state regulation

The Hungarian government has introduced state regulation of prices for a number of food products. From February 1, stores will have to reduce the cost of goods on the list to the level of October 15, 2021.

In his address, Orban said that prices for sugar, flour, vegetable oil, milk, pork hams and chicken breasts will be frozen at the level of October 15 last year. Stores are instructed to reduce the cost of these goods from February 1.

As the prime minister explained, the rise in prices for basic products was caused by a rise in gas prices. Orban added that earlier the government managed to contain the rise in the cost of gasoline and limit interest rates on loans.
