Food companies massively replace sunflower oil with rapeseed oil due to Ukraine war

Ukraine and Russia together produce about 60 percent of the world’s sunflower seeds and oil. Very soon after the start of the war – at the end of February – it became clear that the supply of sunflower oil had started to stall, resulting in large price increases and a rush for alternatives (palm oil, rapeseed oil…). Producers are therefore sometimes forced to change the composition of their products.
