Food collection in El Barco for Ukrainian refugees

The City Council of El Barco de Ávila has started a food collection for the Ukrainian orphans who have taken refuge in the nearby town of Armenteros. And it is that the war in Ukraine has left a large number of displaced people, many of them minors, who are sheltered in the school of this Salamancan municipality and what they want is to collaborate with their maintenance.

That is why, until next May 17, “whoever wishes can collaborate in the collection of non-perishable food and hygiene products that we have promoted from the Consistory” said Víctor Morugij, who thanked “the solidarity of the Barcenses who, in these first days of the initiative, have turned to help”.

The delivery of cans, pasta, biscuits, oil or milk, which are the most necessary products, can be made at the El Barco de Ávila Town Hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The mayor of the town has stated that “from the government team we could not remain oblivious to this sad reality as a result of an unjust war. Even more so, after having made a visit to the host school and knowing, first hand, the story of minors who have had to leave their country” and added that “the City Council will always be on the side of those who need it most and this circumstance, without a doubt, requires it”.
