Food aid: the “Resto’lidaire” in Montluçon, intended for the most precarious, is resuming service

It had been almost three months since the small room, installed at the Lamartine space in Montluçon, had not received so many people. This Monday, June 15, the “Resto’lidaire” of the Maison de la solidarité, a place offering listening, support and food aid to precarious people, was officially able to reopen its doors to the public.

Rigorous barrier gestures

But in a context where the specter of the Covid-19 still looms, volunteers and beneficiaries must come to terms with some new rules. “We respect barrier gestures,” said Chantal Sulliet, vice-president of the association.

From now on, the use of hydroalcoholic gel and the wearing of a mask are de rigueur in restaurant premises.

The capacity also had to be reduced. This Monday, eighteen beneficiaries were able to share a meal, “while, usually, we have the capacity to accommodate up to twenty-four people,” said Claude Baudin treasurer of the association.

436 food parcels distributed between April 9 and June 12

Sanitary regulations oblige, it will be necessary, for a time, to limit the number of places available. A new constraint, which the structure is trying to circumvent with the distribution of food parcels; a service set up on April 9.

Since then, once a week, the volunteers have been working to distribute food to the usual beneficiaries but also “Emergency food breakdown packages” to people at risk from the confinement period.

The difference is that emergency packages are free. While the other packages cost between 3 and 7 euros, depending on the value of the family quotient.
