Zakat, the tax and customs authority of Saudi Arabia, managed to thwart two attempts to smuggle more than 2.9 million Captagon pills after they were found hidden in consignments that entered Saudi Arabia through the Empty Quarter and the border crossings of Haditha.

The authority said it managed to foil an attempt to smuggle 2,920,000 Captagon pills into the Empty Quarter port, after finding them hidden in consignments (electrical cables) received through the port, where the seized items were hidden inside of the cable cavities.

He added that he managed to thwart another attempt at the port of Haditha to smuggle 24,400 Captagon pills, which were hidden inside the “spindle” of one of the trucks passing through the port.

And he indicated that after the completion of the seizure operations, coordination with the Directorate-General for Narcotic Control took place to ensure the arrest of the recipient of the seizures within the Kingdom, where he was arrested, thank God.

The Zakat, the tax and customs authority stressed that it is continuing to tighten customs control on Saudi Arabian imports and exports, and is on guard against attempts by smugglers, in order to achieve the most important pillars of its strategy represented in improving the safety and security of society by limiting attempts to smuggle such parasites and other contraband.
