– Data on Latvia’s foreign trade published by the Central Statistical Bureau show that the value of exports of goods in July this year was only 0.3% lower than in the corresponding month of the previous year. In the current conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, when foreign trade and economic activity in the world have significantly decreased, such export performance of Latvian goods can be assessed as satisfactory. In addition, on a monthly basis, the value of Latvia’s exports of goods for the second month in a row shows a significant increase, with exports increasing by 8.0% month-on-month in June and by 7.3% in July. This means that the deepest point of the COVID-19 crisis is behind us and a significant reduction in merchandise exports is not expected in the coming months.
