Florida reports 21,000 cases of Covid, breaking a record in a single day

Florida reported more than 21,000 new positive COVID-19 infections on Friday, the largest one-day surge in infections since the pandemic began, sea ​​CDC-Statistics .

Currently, 61% of the state’s eligible population are vaccinated, according to the latest Florida Department of Health report.

In the midst of the state spike in cases, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has banned school districts to require students and employees to wear masks by decree.

The DeSantis order came in just a few days after the CDC advised all students and staff to wear masks to school when they returned this fall.

“If you listen to some of the things going on around the CDC, there is a movement that is trying to impose more restrictions on the American people,” DeSantis said at an independent press event Friday, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

“And I just mean, there will be no lockdown in Florida. There will be no school closings. There will be no restrictions or arrest warrants in the state of Florida.

DeSantis has also prohibited companies from requesting proof of vaccination from their customers.
