Flemish actress Sien Diels – ‘Sien’ from Sesamstraat – deceased

Belgian actress Sien Diels has died at the age of 74, reports the Flemish broadcaster GARDEN. She was best known for her performance in sesame street, in which she played the character Sien for 36 years.

sesame street started as a Belgian-Dutch co-production, which meant that a Flemish actor would also have to play one of the lead roles. From 1976 to 2012, Diels played the role of the mother figure of the well-known dolls in sesame street. She ran the store where the residents did their shopping.
