A Dublin fleet manager for the Rehab Group has been charged with stealing €6,000 from the charity by allegedly withholding money from the sale of vehicles. The accused, Michael Delaney, appeared in Dublin District Court where he did not respond to the charge. However, there was no objection to his bail in his bond of €300. Delaney allegedly had permission to sell a number of vehicles that were no longer required, but he sold them without forwarding proceeds of €6,000 to the company. The Director of Public Prosecutions recommended “summary disposal” of the case, and Judge Paula Murphy asked for an outline of the allegations to decide whether to accept jurisdiction or send the case to the Circuit Court. Murphy refused jurisdiction because the case did not fall within the sentencing powers of the District Court, and she ordered Delaney to appear again in June.
