Flamengo and Palmeiras can face each other in the round of 16 of the Libertadores
Flamengo stamped a vacancy in the round of 16 of the Libertadores and now waits to find out who will be the next opponent. Finishing the group stage in second place, Rubro-Negro faces one of the teams that finished the first stage in first place. For Joaquín Piquerez, side of Palmeiras, Mengão is one of the candidates for the continental title.
— In my opinion, without discrediting anyone, the rivalry with Flamengo today is very strong. We decided on a championship with them at the beginning of the year. They have a squad to fight for titles. But all Brazilian teams are strong: Atletico-MG, Internacional, Fluminense it’s very strong… Not to mention River Plate, which is a giant. This year’s Libertadores will be hotly contested and there are no favorites -, say Piquerez.
