Fixed Windows 11’s Slow Write Speed Issues on SSDs and HDDs

Microsoft finally Windows 11 KB5007262 Preview Along with its build, it fixes major performance issues with SSDs and hard drives. The update will address serious write speed issues that only occur on drive C due to enabling NTFS USN logging.

Write speed problems with the C drive appeared long before Windows 11 was released. Windows Insiders, on the other hand, voiced their complaints about the issue and provided feedback to Microsoft.

Write speeds are nearly halved as the issue affects a lot of users. However, for unknown reasons, read speeds are not affected by these issues. E.g a user, Samsung 980 Pro SSD reported a write speed of 1601 MB/s in Windows 10, while this speed dropped to 911 MB/s in Windows 11.

Fortunately Microsoft finally With the KB5007262 update it fixed the write speed issue and that’s not all the update has to offer. This new update also fixes numerous bugs in Windows 11.

  • Fixed an issue affecting the performance of all disks (NVMe, SSD, hard disk) in Windows 11 by performing unnecessary actions each time a write operation occurs. This issue only occurs when NTFS USN logging is enabled and USN logging is always enabled on the C: disk.
