This information does not correspond to earlier statements made by representatives of the Togliatti Automobile Plant. They said that the company intends to increase its annual production to at least 400,000 cars in the near future. But it is impossible to achieve this result by releasing such expensive cars. Lada Granta will not help to achieve the stated goal, since its monthly sales do not exceed 20 thousand units even in the best periods.
In addition, it should be taken into account that AvtoVAZ, according to the most optimistic calculations, will be able to restore production lada vesta and Niva Legend just next summer. Therefore, the company needs to develop and establish the production of new, cheaper cars. One of the likely options is the return to the market of models that AvtoVAZ produced in the recent past. One of these cars is the VAZ-2105 2023-2024 sedan, renders of which were presented by a domestic designer. This model could take place in the product line at least one step below Lada Granta. In this case, both cars will be largely unified with each other.
The new VAZ-2105 should be created on the basis of the Grants platform. This is due to the fact that in this way AvtoVAZ minimizes the cost of developing a car. The VAZ-2105 will receive a standard 1.6-liter aspirated engine for Grants, the maximum power of which will be reduced to 86 hp. The latter is due to the need to separate 2 models. Grant will be equipped with a 90-horsepower version of this engine. A 5-speed manual transmission will be prepared for the new VAZ-2105. This car will not receive an “Automatic” even after AvtoVAZ localizes the production of such a box.
The main difference between the VAZ-2105 2023-2024 and the Grant will be seen in the list of available equipment. Complete sets of new items will be simplified as much as possible in order to reduce prices for it. Therefore, the VAZ-2105 will receive only an anti-lock braking system and one driver’s airbag. With a sedan, they will not even offer a factory radio.
As a result, the announced decisions will make it possible to reduce prices for the new VAZ-2105 sedan to about 500-550 thousand rubles, which will make it the cheapest AvtoVAZ product. It is not yet known when the Soviet model will return to the Russian market. However, given the plans of the Togliatti Automobile Plant, as well as the fact that the VAZ-2105 will be largely unified with the Grant, it can be assumed that the new product should debut before the summer or autumn of 2023.
It won’t take long to develop it. In fact, to restart the production of the VAZ-2105, you only need to make changes to the body design and slightly adjust the interior of Grants.
