While the discipline is becoming more professional with clubs that recruit athletes from other disciplines (triathlon, trail, etc.) and organize almost daily training, the small club of along the coast of Ault (Somme)which nevertheless reaches 40 licensees and organizes baptisms almost every weekend, has chosen to maintain its conviviality.
The competition is nevertheless close to the heart of the president of the longe c’Ault Jocelyne Dubus: “We have been taking part in the regional championships for 4 years. At the start I was alone, this year we have lined up eleven participants in Boulogne-sur-Mer, some of whom are only in their first year of license”.
In total, the regional championship brought together 192 registrants, i.e. 392 participations (some competing in several competitions) on the beach, just behind Nausicaa. The Longe c’Ault club distinguished itself again with two gold medals for the president in the master 4 50 m double paddle and single paddle and the victory of Robin Revillon in the junior 50 m double paddle (second in the 200 m bare hands ). Trained at the club, he is now a member of the Fort Mahon club but often returns to train in Ault.
The last medal was won by Tassadite Vandekerckhove, third in the 50m single paddle in master 2: “I went there for fun, I must admit that my children who are very good sports teachers prepared me by cycling , rowing machine and aquabike. I’m thrilled to get this first medal and I will continue training. It also proves that our club has excellent structures, great skills and a president with a fiery temperament who stimulates us thanks to her courage and her will. I am proud to be able to be by his side at the beginning of June in Sangatte (59) for the French championships”. These championships will take place on June 3.
The club also wishes to open up to as many people as possible, which is why it will organize two “triathlonge” at Onival on July 11 (nautical festival) and August 15 (sea festival) which will include long coast, walking or running and a game of water skill in teams of two.
The date of September 17 has also been set for the second edition of the Rando Longe which had attracted many licensees from Hauts de France in 2021: “We are thinking of attracting up to 150 participants, we could welcome non-licensees (discovery license) at provided that he has done at least one initiation session beforehand”.
