Five National Teams Eliminated from Asian Games 2023: Bangladesh, Vietnam, Mongolia, Kuwait, and Taiwan

A total of five national teams are certain to be eliminated from men’s soccer Asian Games 2023 after playing the last match in the group phase, Sunday (24/9).

A number of national teams underwent fate-determining matches to qualify for the last 16 of the 2023 Asian Games, last weekend.

The teams that went through life-and-death matches were: the Indonesian U-24 National Team, Taiwan, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Vietnam.

This deciding match was carried out in order to get the four best third place teams to complete the 16 participants in the last 16 of the 2023 Asian Games.

As a result, the Indonesian U-24 National Team, Qatar, Thailand and Myanmar were the four teams that qualified for the knockout rounds via the top three rankings.

Meanwhile, North Korea, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Bahrain, Japan, Palestine, Uzbekistan, Hong Kong, Iran, Saudi Arabia, China and India were the 12 teams that qualified as group champions and runners up.

The remaining five teams must be eliminated from competition at the 2023 Asian Games. The five teams eliminated are: Bangladesh, Vietnam, Mongolia, Kuwait and Taiwan.

Vietnam was eliminated because they lost the battle for best third place after being beaten 1-3 by Saudi Arabia.
