The lead singer of the veteran GNR joined Glockenwise to reinterpret an old theme from the Barcelos band.
“Calor” is the new version, now in Portuguese and with the voice of Rui Reininho, “Heat”, single from the album with the same name from 2015.
It is no longer the first time that artists collaborate.
In October last year, the Casório initiative, in Porto, which aimed to bring together musicians of different generations and languages, put Rui Reininho and Nuno Rodrigues, Glockenwise lead singer on the same stage and who maintains the Duquesa solo project, which he also joined guitarist Rafael Ferreira.
“In a pandemic context, Glockenwise invited Rui Reininho, one of the Portuguese masters of the puzzle, to revisit the Heat with them. This is the warmth of the immediate present and the uncertainty about the near future ”, announces Valentim de Carvalho, editor for which the Barcelenses edited their last album,“ Plastic ”.
Formed in 2006 in the city of Barcelos, they quickly became one of the fundamental names of modern music made in Portugal.
With the albums “Building Waves” (2011), “Leeches” (2013) and “Heat” (2015) they established themselves with one of the most refreshing proposals on the national scene.
In 2018, Glockenwise took a new evolutionary step, reinvented themselves, exchanged English for Portuguese, and launched “Plastic” for Valentim de Carvalho.
Now, with the help of Rui Reininho, they dressed the past with the clothes of the present. And the result has everything to be a summer hit.
