Five employees of the City of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield suffering from COVID-19

The City of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield has learned of five positive diagnoses of COVID-19 from employees working in the Department of Public Works and the Environment, in recent days. The affected employees have not attended the workplaces, since the complete disinfection of the territory management building, which occurred last Monday.

An internal investigation, carried out by the human resources team, made it possible to communicate with the employees who could have had close contacts with the infected employees before their departure. They are currently in preventive quarantine and may return to offices only when they have received a negative diagnosis of the coronavirus, or according to the directives issued by Public Health in their regard.

The Human Resources Service maintains regular communications with employees, who are also monitored by the Quebec Public Health. The health status of the five infected people is currently being monitored.

“We are here to offer all the necessary support to employees affected by the virus. We sincerely hope that they can recover as quickly as possible, “concludes the Director of Human Resources, Ms. Louise Bourassa.

All the steps surrounding the cleaning protocol have been carried out, in accordance with the directives of the Public Health Agency of Canada and the National Institute of Public Health (INSPQ). An external firm carried out a thorough disinfection of the work area to ensure that employees of the City of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield can continue their work safely. In addition, many employees continue their work, on a telework basis. Daily disinfection of common areas is also carried out by our teams who use disinfectant products approved by Health Canada and recognized for their effectiveness in countering the spread of the coronavirus.
