Fitch Ratings cuts its growth forecasts for Italian GDP.
“We have slightly reduced our growth forecast for Italy and now expect growth of 0.9% in 2023 and 1% in 2024,” reads a report from the agency. This is due to a worse than expected result in the second quarter, when “GDP contracted by 0.4%, with household consumption stagnating”, “the volume of retail sales was 0.6% lower in the May-July period compared to the previous quarter” and the PMI indicator for August “deteriorated to well below the eurozone average”.
