Fitbit has a COVID-19 study announced. The company is investigating whether an algorithm can be made that recognizes coronavirus infection before the first symptoms appear.
The research is not a completely new idea. It is already being investigated whether big data from wearables that are worn 24 hours a day can be used to recognize early flu.
To participate in the study, users must live in the United States or Canada, be 21 years of age or older and have or have had symptoms. Participation is voluntary and users can stop at any time. Interested parties can complete a questionnaire via the Fitbit app.
