The clock was 18.50, when a large group of firefighters came to the house in Riga, Ventspils Street at 7 A. They rushed to put out the fire in a ground floor apartment and found a stale woman in the smoke, the program “Degpunkta” reported.
On Thursday morning in Riga, Ventspils Street, eyewitnesses noticed that smoke was breaking out of the windows of the first floor apartment of a two-storey wooden house. Firefighters were called without hesitation, and the men managed to pull a 65-year-old unconscious woman out of flames and smoke. Shortly after the fire, we meet the relatives of the victim at the scene. They make no secret that it all started with smoking in bed.
“Apparently she smoked, maybe put down a cigarette or got sick and she fell. Began to burn, so at least firefighters said. She is now in resuscitation, she is not here, ”says the relative of the victim.
The victim’s husband also admits that the cigarette is to blame, but in general the cause is his wife’s poor health. “She has a very high level of diabetes – 25. She probably shook her head, probably fell, and everything caught fire. She was found here in the kitchen, she fled out of there, ”says Igor, the victim’s wife.
