More than 125 San Francisco firefighters are fighting a fire in a warehouse on the San Francisco pier, the fire department reported Saturday.

A quarter of Pier 45 or Fisherman’s Wharf “was lost in the flames,” according to the Fire Department report. The fire occurred near the SS Jeremiah O’Brien, the World War II Liberty-type ship. According to local media, the ship could be saved from the flames.

At the moment no injuries have been reported and the pier has been completely evacuated, authorities said.

Authorities report that the fire caused the partial collapse of the building on the southern part of the pier and spread to two more buildings.

The wrecked warehouse was family owned Caito Fisheries. The company is a major processor for the Northern California crab fleet.

The St. Francis fireboat was put in position to protect the historic SS Jeremiah O’Brien ship, built during the Second World War, and thanks to this, the historic ship has been preserved, since when the flames arrived they were already punishing it Jonathan Baxter, a department spokesman, told local media.

Other fire boats were stationed around the dock to help fight the fire.
