“Finishing Ligue 1 on June 30 seems impossible,” announces Noël Le Graët

In an interview with the AFP this Friday, Noël Le Graët, the president of the French Federation of
football, said that “finishing June 30 seems impossible”. He considers it “unreasonable” to predict a date for resumption of
Ligue 1 and other professional or amateur championships. “No one is master of the calendar. And to continue, “we cannot resume competition before the state gives the green light.”

The president of the FFF faced with coronavirus “made the decision to stop the competitions” on March 12. “For the recovery, it is not up to us to decide. We will not resume until authorization is given. “However, several hypotheses exist for the resumption of the championships:” May 15 for some, June 1 or 15 for others. For still others, we will not go to the end. […] The goal is to resume as quickly as possible, but without any health risk for our spectators and our players. “

The FFF presidential elections scheduled for late December could be postponed by several weeks or even “after” the 2021 Olympics, Noël Le Graët also told AFP. The current president said in April 2019, “My term runs until 2020. Wisdom would dictate that I stop. I said that four years ago, I don’t always tell the truth (smile). “
