Fine of 33,000 euros for every day a movie from the Back Door is aired

This Christmas, the Backdoor Channel was the center of attention after creating a Christmas Special movie on Netflix that portrays Jesus Christ as a homosexual man in a relationship with another man.

The movie, which drew laughter from some and sparked anger and hatred in others, has now seen the court ordering its withdrawal from Netflix, forcing the platform to pay a fine of 33,000 euros for each day the film continues on the air.

Christ's First Temptation

This is the name of the controversial movie. Jesus Christ decides to bring a special guest to present to his family on his 30th birthday. And this guest is your boyfriend Orlando, who you met in the desert.

Satire was much criticized and contested mainly by the religious community, from Brazil and beyond, and even by deputies.

The revolt of many people was such that on Christmas Eve, the headquarters of the Backdoor was attacked with the launch of molotov cocktails, with no record of injuries.

Court orders withdrawal of Netflix film - fine of 33,000 euros per day

Benedito Abicair, judge of the 6th Civil Chamber of the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro, ordered, on Tuesday, that Netflix remove the Christmas Special movie from Porta dos Fundo.

The order follows the granting of an injunction filed by the Centro Don Bosco Association of Faith and Culture, a conservative Catholic entity.

According to the judge, the request for the withdrawal of the program is…

… More appropriate and beneficial, not only for the Christian community, but for the Brazilian society, mostly Christian, until the merit of the matter is judged.

Abicair was the same judge who in 2011 acquitted Brazil's current president, Jair Bolsonaro, on charges of homophobia.

In addition, the court applied a fine of 33,000 euros for each day that NETFLIX takes to accept the order and the movie is still available on the platform.

The process will also be evaluated in court, where it must be decided whether or not the film is legal in Brazil.
