(Moss Avis) Search figures from FINN travel show that Norwegians still dream of going abroad, especially in 2022. If you look at airline ticket searches for the whole of 2021, Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim and Stavanger are at the top, closely followed by Gran Canaria, the website states in a press release.
– It seems that Norwegians still want and have faith in a holiday abroad next year. Applications made for FINN travel at the end of December give a good indication of where we want to travel – and if we look at actual bookings made for 2022 for hotels and rental cars, then almost 80 percent of bookings abroad are, says Terje Berge, commercial director in FIND travel:
– Gran Canaria is clearly among the most popular destinations. It is also the destination abroad that seems to have been least affected by recent restrictions in terms of searches and bookings. We do not want to let go of the dream of the Granca holiday, and still have to search for and book trips to the most popular areas there.
– Hoping for sun and heat
Alicante is also a sought-after holiday destination for 2022, showing airfare and package search on FINN travel in December, closely followed by Bangkok and Malaga. Among the most popular countries we also find Turkey, Portugal, Greece, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.
– Alicante, Bangkok and Malaga are destinations that have been on the top list among Norwegians for a long time. We also have a special fondness for Spain, which one might long for a little extra now, after another year of pandemics and restrictions. A little sun and heat is something many hope to be able to enjoy more of in 2022, says Berge.
We have wanted to travel here in 2021
If you look at the most searched destinations on FINN travel in 2021, Norway is clearly at the top in terms of airline tickets, hotel searches and searches for holiday homes and cabins for rent.
– It was a Norwegian holiday for many of us, also this year. In connection with the pandemic in 2020, we saw an explosive increase in demand for holiday homes and cottages for rent on FINN travel – and this demand has continued into 2021. Especially recently, after the new restrictions came, says Berge in FINN travel.
Among the most popular destinations for renting holiday homes and cottages in Norway in 2021, we find Kristiansand, Kragerø and Hemsedal.
– In the summer we saw that the destinations by the sea were particularly sought after and were much sought after, and throughout the autumn and winter it is the mountain destinations that have taken over. Norwegians love active holidays, and in winter many people go to places where you can stand or ski, such as Hemsedal, Trysil and Geilo, says Berge.
