The Riga Festival, as always, will have a wide range of events for families with children and lovers of active recreation – aviation festival, big picnic in Mežaparks, city exploration games, interactive and entertaining events in Spīķeri, Vidzeme market, Culture Palace “Ziemeļblāzma” park and elsewhere, sporting activities.
A diverse festival program will take place at Spilve Airport, where the centenary of the aviation festival will be celebrated at the Riga fly-in 2020 rally, offering visitors to see different generations of aircraft, participate in a cognitive competition, watch both very antique and modern aircraft maneuvers and demonstrations of the best parachutists. In turn, the big picnic in Mežaparks promises to delight every family and group of friends with creative, musical activities and gastronomic offer of cuisines of different countries. A special holiday program for both adults and children has been prepared on Tērbatas vasaras Street and Vidzeme Market, where children’s vocal ensembles will perform, a puppet theater performance and a large puppet musical program, as well as an illusionist show will be shown. Families with children are welcome in the Riga History and Navigation Museum, Grizinkalns, Mazjumprava Manor, as well as in the park of the Culture Palace “Ziemeļblāzma”.
The Riga Festival program for the little ones with concert performances, a puppet theater song game, scientific theater experiments and a drawing theater performance will be observed in the Spīķeri quarter. Drawing theater performances will also be available at the Imanta Cultural Center. Children and parents are invited to go on a city tour, at the same time participating in an educational game, where everyone can become a winner and receive an Old Riga expert badge.
Every visitor of the festival, large and small, will be able to participate in sports activities. In the Victory Park, the event “Healthy Riga Healthy Spirit” will be an opportunity to test your strength in endurance exercises and health-promoting competitions. Orienteering enthusiasts are invited to Grizinkalns and Mazjumprava manors, where an orienteering game and creative activities will take place, as well as to Torņkalns and Agenskalns, where a special orienteering adventure is expected. The event center “Fantadroms” will have a checkers festival with master classes and tournaments for both amateurs and professionals. Children, their parents, as well as the whole family are invited to take part in sports activities in the event “You and I are a force” in the Moscow garden. Those who want to test their strength in the obstacle course, by applying in advance, will be able to participate in the “Lāčplēsis Cross Country”, which traditionally has a track for both children and adults. In addition to the race, you will also have the opportunity to enjoy an entertaining program and get involved in dexterity tasks.
The organizers of the festival call on the organizers and visitors of the events to comply with the national restrictions and the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control in relation to the spread of COVID-19. Let’s celebrate the holiday responsibly!
