Fans of the Antwerp actor have had to wait for a while, but now it is finally back. Matthias Schoenaerts, who has already exchanged our Belgenland for the more glamorous Hollywood and who has not participated in a Belgian production since 2017, has been cast for ‘Lockdown’. The Flemish series will appear on One at the end of this year.

As the name suggests, the idea for ‘Lockdown’ arose during … the lockdown, yes. Or how the corona crisis can still bring about something good.

‘Lockdown’

The concept of ‘Lockdown’ was conceived by Gilles Coulier (known from ‘The Day’) and Maarten Moerkerke (‘The Louse Mother’). The series consists of twelve episodes, each of which tells a ten-minute short story, from the visitor area of a prison. In one of the twelve parts, how could it be otherwise, Matthias Schoenaerts plays the prisoner. Veerle Baetens sits opposite him and plays the role of his love. Due to the short duration of the episodes, the episode will be shot in one day. As for the director, it changes every episode. Robin Pront, known for ‘D’Ardennen’, was chosen for those with Schoenaerts and Baetens, but names such as Michaël Roskam and Jan Eelen are also reviewed. We are already starting to count down to this autumn!
