A total of 78 prospective farmers have completed the final vocational examination in Lower Franconia weeks. Of these, 75 participants were able to complete these successfully.
In the Ochsenfurt test area (districts of Aschaffenburg, Kitzingen, Main-Spessart, Miltenberg and Würzburg) 42 participants competed this year. The group of examinees consisted of 29 young people who had completed the regular dual training, as well as 13 test participants who were admitted as lateral entrants through the education program Farmer (BiLa). This is announced by the Office for Food, Agriculture and Forests (AELF) Schweinfurt.
According to the press release, at the final exam the participants had to cope with the operational part of the tasks in addition to the written exam and thereby prove their practical skills.
The examination committee not only assessed the execution of the tasks, but also asked about theoretical knowledge in the oral part of the examination. Future farmers had to be able to assess plant stocks as well as feed in animal husbandry. Depending on the chosen focus, the test subjects could, for example, prove themselves in the professional sowing of a catch crop, had to evaluate a dairy cow or create animal-friendly feed rations.
The best of the year in the Ochsenfurt examination area with an overall grade of 1.29 this year is Lena Reutter from Mühlheim ad Donau (Tuttlingen district). She came to the Schudt family business in Schöllkrippen (district of Aschaffenburg) for the third year of her apprenticeship in Lower Franconia. Tobias Heim (Simmringen. Main-Tauber-Kreis) follows with a test result of 1.45. Yannik Hartmann (Wernfeld, district of Main-Spessart) and Frederic Hager (Kaltensondheim, district of Kitzingen) received a grade of 1.55.
Because of the corona pandemic, an acquittal ceremony cannot take place this year. Nevertheless, Anne Lutz, educational advisor at the Office for Food, Agriculture and Forests Schweinfurt (AELF) is delighted with the above-average examination results of this year’s class.
Ten of the 42 test participants were able to finish with an overall grade better than 2.0. With the successful graduation, the graduates have laid a solid foundation for their professional future that can be built on, says Lutz. In times when agriculture is facing major challenges, sound training and advanced training is therefore essential.
