FIFA issued several decisions today, Wednesday, after the Executive Committee meeting chaired by Gianni Infantino.
The meeting came to discuss the implications of the dates for different football tournaments due to the outbreak of the Coruna virus, which caused the postponement of Euro and Cuban America from next summer to the summer of 2021.
This necessitated the postponement of the Club World Cup with its new system, with the participation of 24 teams, which was to be held in the summer of 2021.
The decisions were as follows:
** Ensure that global solutions are found to schedule appointments for all competitions while always maintaining the health of all participants in them as a priority above all.
** Evaluate the need for changes or pauses in player transfer regulations to protect player and club contracts and amend transfer registration periods.
** Evaluate the economic impact of the Corona virus on every continent and analyze whether there is anyone who needs financial support.
** Donate $ 10 million to the World Health Organization to tackle the Coronavirus.
After the conference ended, Infantino said: “The current exceptional situation requires exceptional decisions, and we must take into account stakeholders in all the world. Today we have demonstrated a spirit of cooperation, solidarity and unity, and these things must be our engine to move forward.”
“I thank all the heads of the federations for their contribution, and FIFA will keep in touch with everyone to evaluate and take the necessary steps to deal with the issue we face, because I am counting on the entire football community to pass through that crisis,” he concluded.
