Nigerian Stanley Ohaoichi described his time with Zamalek as “the best” in his football career.
Stanley said: “Zamalek is the best team I’ve played for throughout my career. His fans were absolutely amazing.”
“Zamalek is a big name like Real Madrid and Barcelona, and you should always win all matches. It was the best experience of my career and I enjoyed it very much,” he added in his remarks on OnTime Sports 2.
He continued, “My most valuable goal with Zamalek was in the goal of Wydad (the Champions League semi-finals). We were not playing well, and we needed this goal at this particular time.”
He continued, saying: “It was a very important goal for me. It is the most important and best for me with Zamalek.”
“My experience with Zamalek was very nice, I had fun and everyone expected many of us. We were playing to win every game. And this difference between big and small teams. It was a great experience and the club treated me very well. “
Stanley went back in memory to talk about Al-Ahly’s desire to include himHe said, “During my time in the Tigris, my agent informed me of the desire of Zamalek and Al-Ahly to include me.”
He revealed, “I discussed with my agent a lot and decided to go to Zamalek to know many friends there, such as Shikabala, Kofi, Mustafa Fathi and Omar Jaber.”
And on the reason why Zamalek lost the Champions League title to the South African Sun DownsStanley sees: “Our loss of many players on the list made things very difficult for us. Marouf Yusuf played as a left back and so many changes occurred in the positions of the players.”
“We lost three times in the first leg and played badly, and in the second leg the goal came late and then I was injured. If we had lost two goals or less, things would have been better.”
Stanley touched on the French coach, Patrice Carteron, the former coach of the Tigris and Al-Ahly, and current Zamalek “Carteron has great experience and can read matches well. He is a great coach and is able to take Zamalek to very high levels,” he said.
“I received two conversations from my colleagues in Al-Ahly, when Carteron took over the team training, and I told my colleagues that he is a very good coach and you have to give everything you have with him.”
On the reason why Carteron “failed” with Al-Ahly, Stanley sees: “Al-Ahly and Zamalek are always playing to win like Real Madrid and Barcelona.”
“If the team wins 10 consecutive games and then tied or lost once, you will see everyone feeling very bad. This is what happens in the big teams, you lose a match or a championship, and the coach is changed at the time. If some coaches are given a longer chance, things will be better.”
Stanley concluded: “Ready to go back and play in Egypt again, why not.”
The 30-year-old Nigerian striker joined Zamalek from Wadi Degla in 2016.
Stanley played 41 games in the Zamalek jersey, and he scored 12 goals and 4 goals.
Stanley is currently playing for Saudi Qadisiyah.
