FilGoal | News | Abu Raida: A million dollar grant from FIFA to resume activity

Hani Abu Rida, a member of the Supreme Council of the International Football Association (FIFA) and a member of the Executive Committee of the African Football Confederation, announced in a statement that FIFA decided to grant one million dollars to the Egyptian Football Association in order to resume football activity.

Abu Reeda said that he presented the difficult financial situation facing the Egyptian and African clubs in order to resume the activity during a meeting held yesterday for the FIFA Council headed by the Swiss Gianni Infantino through video conferencing technology.

Abu Rida explained that he talked about the needs of Egyptian and African clubs before resuming the activity, pointing out that many of his colleagues in the council had the same viewpoint in their different countries and continents, after which the immediate decision was taken to spend that urgent financial assistance.

FIFA decided to give each local federation an additional immediate financial assistance of one million dollars, in order to help the clubs bear their many financial burdens resulting from the Corona pandemic and in support of the resumption of their activities that were suspended for about three months.

Abu Reeda believes that the decision is in the interest of resuming football activity in Egypt in accordance with the decision of the Egyptian government and the five-year committee charged with managing the Egyptian Football Association.

And FIFA announced a few days ago that it used approximately $ 900 million of its cash reserves to help its members from the Football Associations to face the crisis of the spread of Corona virus.

FIFA said that all its members from 211 international football federations will receive a million dollars to spend, along with another 500,000 to spend specifically on women’s football only.

Each of the six continental federations will receive $ 2 million from FIFA’s cash reserves.

The FIFA has raised $ 2.7 billion after the last World Cup 2018 in Russia.
