Fifty Fifty Kina. Kina, the only FIFTY FIFTY member to return after an exclusive contract dispute with reporter Park Jong-min’s agency Attract, has received settlement for the first time since her debut.
An Attract official told CBS Nocut News on the 10th, “It is true that (Kina) is scheduled to be settled. It is difficult to give details regarding the amount, etc.”
Earlier, YTN Star reported on the 9th, borrowing the words of a music industry official, that Fifty Fifty’s performance will turn into a surplus at the end of this month and the first settlement for members will be made. Most of it came from music revenue, and Kina’s settlement amount was said to be worth tens of millions of won.
Fifty Fifty, who debuted with the mini album ‘THE FIFTY’ in November last year, is a four-member female idol group consisting of Kina, Saena, Shio, and Aran. Since its debut, critics and listeners have said that the song is good.
The title song ‘Cupid’ of the first single released in February of this year attracted attention on ‘Tik Tok’, a platform for uploading short videos, and first gained popularity overseas, and also showed stepwise growth on domestic music charts.
‘Cupid’ entered the US Billboard main single chart ‘Hot 100’ at number 100, then went through 94 → 85 → 60 → 50 → 41 → 19, reaching a peak of 17th. Additionally, they entered the UK’s Official Singles Chart ‘Top 100’ for 13 consecutive weeks, setting the longest record for a K-pop girl group.
However, Fifty Fifty filed a provisional injunction suspending the exclusive contract with their agency Attract in June, seven months after their debut, due to negligence in settlement and member health care and protection.
While the court dismissed all of Fifty Fifty’s claims, Kina was the only one of the four members to withdraw the lawsuit and return to her original agency, Attract, in the middle of last month. On the other hand, the three people Saena, Sio, and Aran announced that they would proceed with the lawsuit on the merits and fight over the essence of the matter in the future.
