Schalke 04 is looking for a coach again, and several questions arise: Should it only be one until the end of the season? Or one who gets a long-term contract? Two names are in circulation.

Five protagonists from the Schalke leadership and coaching group had to pack their belongings on Sunday. This personal bang could even be continued, especially with a view to the previous co-trainers Naldo, Matthias Kreutzer and Onur Cinel.
With the dismissal of Christian Gross, the club now needs the fifth coach this season. That could be someone from their own stable, for example Mike Büskens, who was not only one of the “Eurofighters”, but also a number of royal blue interim trainers and coaches in Fürth, Düsseldorf and Vienna. Büskens, currently planned for the short-term squad planning together with U-19 coach Norbert Elgert, could try to save the day and then make space for an unencumbered coach in the summer.
Baumgart as an unencumbered solution
This could then be called Steffen Baumgart. His contract with SC Paderborn expires at the end of the season – there are some at Schalke who think that the Rostock-born 49-year-old would be a great fit for an emotional club like Schalke and the human race in the Ruhrpott (direct, honest, open).
Grammozis as trainers of the future
Internally, however, the idea of installing the trainer of the future now is also maturing. Someone like Dimitrios Grammozis, who was already a candidate when looking for a coach last year. As a long-standing junior coach at VfL Bochum, the 42-year-old who last coached the second division SV Darmstadt 98 is used to working with youth players. That meets: At Schalke, you want (and have to) rely more on your own talents in the future, especially when rebuilding in the 2nd division.
Boris as a solution with a stable odor
Thanks to an exit clause, Michael Boris would also be available immediately. The 45-year-old born in Bottrop with a royal blue past is currently the coach of the Hungarian first division fourth MTK Budapest, whom he led to promotion last year.
