Rich artistic experiences that develop skills and enable children and young people to master all forms of art, presented by the fifteenth session of the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival, which continues at the Sharjah Expo Center, until 12 May, under the slogan “Be the hero of your story,” in a context that connects children with books and art.

Among these activities is the festival’s comic station, which is very popular with children and young people, who interact with their favorite characters, and its diverse spaces provide them opportunities for creativity, exploration, drawing, writing, imagination and creativity.

The comic station hosted the “Art of Comics” workshop presented by artist and trainer Maha Al Muhairi, where participants learned about drawing and writing techniques in the style of “Pop Art”, which is a common and well-known style in the art of “comics.”

Artist Maha Al Muhairi said: “Pop Art is based on details in pictures, as it helps the artist express events, movement and surprise, such as large exclamation marks, and drawing letters The Pop Art style has established the character and identity of comic art, and has created a growing movement and art school in “It has spread since the 1950s, because it’s inspired by street art, funny sayings, and caricature expressions.”

The visitors of the festival, children and teenagers, learned the basics of these arts, and ways to combine, express and cross-cut Pop-art with comic books, and try the methods, the elements and these arts on papers to draw on, according to age groups, as the young people used papers that contained several layers of the forms of these expressions while the children received less complex papers that explained this art for them smoothly and simply.

The workshop included challenges and competitions to bring out the best drawings from children, and give them extra time to create their own funny stories, in a lively and engaging artistic activity that children’s emotional abilities develop, which enhances their imagination, through which they unleash their imagination. energy, and meets the nature of passion, curiosity and research.
