Fifteen passengers and crew members were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard and fisher volunteers off the waters of Sta. Ana, Cagayan. The boat, named Jhon Lea, sank due to overloading while en route to Palaui.

Coast Guard District Northeastern Luzon and fisher volunteers rescued 15 passengers and crew members of a boat named Jhon Lea off the shores of San Vicente village in Sta. Ana, Cagayan, Philippines on 8 April. Overloading was identified as the incident’s cause; the boat was bound to Palaui and was seen sunk 300 metres from the shore. The rescued passengers were brought to San Vicente Port for medical check-ups.
