FIFA 24 will not come and also FIFA 25, FIFA 26 and so on will not come. The name FIFA disappears from the EA games that are played a lot worldwide. The footie series continues under a new name: EA Sports FC. That’s why EA Sports FC 24 is also coming out this year, the first of the football games to drop the FIFA name.
FIFA name costs a buck
EA and FIFA had a contract for a long time, which allowed the game developer to use the FIFA name for the games for years. The American publisher paid 150 million dollars annually for this.
To be allowed to use the name, the football association only charged a new price tag for a new contract: 1 billion dollars. For that amount, EA would then be allowed to use the FIFA name for another four years, after which a new contract had to be concluded.
EA decided to go for the money and kindly declined.
Instead, EA announced in 2022 that the name FIFA would no longer be used by EA after FIFA 2023. A new name was unclear for a long time, but it is now there. EA Sports FC 24 is the name of the new football game from EA and it is scheduled for September 29.
