FHWS students hand out 200 face shields

Students of the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt volunteer in times of the pandemic. Students of economics meet in small groups to cut so-called face shields from overhead transparencies. They are then supplemented with headbands made in 3D printing and, among other things, sent to the Würzburg Medical District Association, Arche gGmbH nursing facilities, the Würzburg district’s disaster management, nursing staff and retail employees.

The idea of the project came from the founder and coordinator of the “Shield Community”, Wolfram Weinhold, student and future company founder at the Würzburg founders laboratory of the Center for Digital Innovation Mainfranken (ZDI). The non-profit project “Shield Community” from Würzburg is part of the nationwide network “Maker versus Virus”. Around 150 people work on a voluntary basis in the production and distribution of Face Shields.
