According to the trade association Finans Danmark, since the corona pandemic has hit an average of 122 bankruptcy cases a week.

Around 1,800 Danish companies have gone bankrupt during the corona crisis, and this is fewer than during the years of economic boom from 2013 to 2020.

According to Finans Danmark, this is due to compensation schemes from the authorities and the goodwill of the financial institutions.

The bankruptcies have also not led to many having lost their jobs, according to chief economist Niels Arne Dam in Finance Denmark.

– The sharp rise in unemployment is not related to bankruptcies, but rather to businesses that have been forced to cut, he says.
