After 18 Upper Austrian visitors, 38 from Lower Austria, 22 festival guests from Styria, six from Carinthia and four from Tyrol, five out of five Salzburg visitors to the “Austria goes Zrce” festival on the Croatian island of Pag have now tested positive for Corona after their return.
The unreported numbers are likely to be significantly higher, suspect the health authorities. Concrete figures from Vienna, Burgenland and Vorarlberg are not yet available. In any case, visitors to the event should closely monitor their state of health and have themselves tested, the authorities recommend.
Festival visitors mainly traveled by bus and car
“The vast majority of the participants drove there and back by bus or their own car,” says a broadcast from the Province of Lower Austria.
If Covid symptoms occur, visitors should contact the health advice 1450 telephone immediately. Such signs could include shortness of breath, sore throat, upper respiratory tract inflammation, fever, dry cough, and sudden loss of taste or smell.
State of Salzburg fears a significantly higher number of unreported cases
The health authorities in Salzburg first confirmed five cases on Wednesday, which can clearly be attributed to the visit to the festival. As a spokesman for the country said to the APA, one reckons with a higher number of unreported cases. The state therefore published an appeal on Wednesday afternoon in which all returnees from “Austria goes Zrce” are asked to be tested.
