A group of scientists from the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (Idibell) –whose scientific director is Dr. Fernando Fernandez Aranda— and the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) have discovered that a diet rich in glucose accentuates the effect of chemotherapy with cisplatin, the most common against solid tumorsand that dopamine protects against the neurological effects of treatment.
This discovery is a great advance to improve the effectiveness of this type of chemotherapy, whose doses must be reduced on many occasions due to its toxicity.
