Fernando Alonso, Singapore F1 GP, updates F1 history record[F1-Gate.com]

-Fernando Alonso set the record for the most entries in F1 history at the next round of the F1 Singapore GP. Alonso, who has a two-year contract with Aston Martin since 2023, says he is confident he can reach 400.

Fernando Alonso equaled Kimi Raikkonen’s 349 Grand Prix in last weekend’s F1 Italian Grand Prix. .

The 41-year-old, who recently signed a multi-year contract with Aston Martin starting in 2023, has shown little signs of slowing down or even taking off his helmet.

Two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso will almost certainly make 400 races and is likely to hit that record towards the end of the 2024 season.

Fernando Alonso said of Kimi Raikkonen’s record of departures in Monza: “I know the number of starts because it is repeated every weekend, but I don’t care much.”

“I am happy to be in Formula 1 for many years, and I am happy to be in Formula 1 for another two years, maybe years.”

“I will certainly reach 400 and it is an important number. It demonstrates my passion for sport and my discipline to perform at a high level”.

“Without performance, the team will not give us 400 grands prix.”

Despite being the oldest driver on the grid, Fernando Alonso has always vowed to extend his F1 career beyond 2023. The Alpine F1 team wanted to sign a one-year contract with Fernando Alonso with an option for 2024, but negotiations have run aground.

Fernando Alonso’s career in F1 lasted over 20 years, making his debut in 2001 with Minardi. Since then, he has raced all seasons except 2002, when he was a test driver for Renault, and 2019-20, when he took a break to explore racing disciplines outside of Formula 1.

2007 Formula 1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen made his final Alfa Romeo appearance at the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 GP late last year after winning Rubens Barrichello’s record at the Eifel Formula 1 GP 2020.

Aside from Fernando Alonso, the only active driver with more than 300 starts is Lewis Hamilton with 304 starts. Hamilton is expected to overtake Jenson Button and Michael Schumacher with 306s in the next six weeks to move up to fourth on the all-time list.

Sebastian Vettel sits just behind Lewis Hamilton with 293 starts. His last race in Abu Dhabi before retiring from F1 would therefore be his 299th race appearance.
