Felicity Huffman has spoken for the first time about the exam fraud for which she spent a week and a half in prison in 2019. The Desperate Housewivesactress says it was necessary for her daughter’s future plans.

In an interview with the American channel ABC says Huffman that she looked for options to give her daughter Sophia a place at the university she wanted to attend. That’s why she hired a coach to help her with this.

The coach in question, Rick Singer, tells Huffman that Sophia’s academic results are too low to go to her desired university. Ultimately, Huffman paid $15,000 to someone who corrected her daughter’s exam answers. As a result, Huffman’s daughter was still able to go to college.

“It was about my daughter’s future,” Huffman counters TMZ. “That’s why I had to break the law. I thought I would be a bad mother if I didn’t.”

Sophia was not aware of this, the American emphasizes. The actress also talks about the moment the FBI stormed her house. “I thought it was a joke.”

Actress now works for organization

Huffman’s daughter is currently attending Carnegie Mellon University. Huffman did not play any major roles after her prison sentence. She mainly spends her time on an organization that helps former prisoners to reintegrate into society.

In addition to Huffman, more than thirty were arrested for exam fraud. Was among them Full Houseactress Lori Loughlin, who, unlike Huffman, did not plead guilty.
