“Federer expresses sadness over Nadal’s absence from French Open due to injury”

Roger Federer says he will absolutely miss seeing Rafael Nadal compete at this year’s French Open. Nadal, a record 14-time French Open winner, announced he will not be playing at Roland Garros this year after failing to recover from an injury to his psoas muscle.

Federer, one of Nadal’s biggest rivals, took part in a Q&A session with fans on Twitter. “Will you miss Rafa Nadal at the French Open?” a fan asked Federer. Federer replied: “Yes, I will miss seeing him play.

French Open + @RafaelNadal = one of the most incredible records in the history of all sports.”

Federer is saddened by Nadal’s absence from the French Open

When Nadal picked up the injury in Australia, doctors told him he would be ready to play again in six to eight weeks.

But then Nadal experienced several setbacks in his recovery which caused him to miss many more shots than initially expected. Last week in Manacor, Nadal said there was no point in going to the French Open without feeling that he could play his best tennis and end up winning the title.

“I’ve been working as much as I can every day for the past four months. It’s been a very difficult few months because we couldn’t find a solution to the problem I was having in Australia. Today I’m still in the situation that I don’t feel ready to compete with the standards I need to have to play at Roland-Garros.

I’m not the type that will be at Roland-Garros and just try to be there and put myself in a position that I don’t like to be in. My goal is to enjoy the next year, which will probably be my last year of professional competition.

My motivation is to say goodbye to all important tournaments. 2024 will probably be my last year. I will not set a return date beforehand. It might reach the Davis Cup at the end of 2023,” Nadal explained last week.
