Federal government sits together to take measures against high energy prices: this is on the table

“Doing nothing is not an option,” says Wetstraat colleague Michaël Van Droogenbroeck in “Het Journaal”. “The government has been working on it for so long.”

It’s all about getting all noses in the same direction. “The Vivaldi government is a large government with different parties,” says Van Droogenbroeck. “I hear that the Greens are not immediately eager to lower excise taxes on fuel, for example, because you indirectly subsidize fossil fuels. They put other proposals on the table, such as a reduction in tickets for public transport.”

“It will be some give and take”, thinks Van Droogenbroeck. In other words, the federal government may have night work ahead of them.
