“I don’t care about EM” – Thanks, Thomas Müller! Jogi Löw’s egg dance was annoying

For weeks now, national coach Joachim Löw has been keeping a back door on the comeback of the resurrected Thomas Müller into the national team. Müller closed this back door on Sunday – locked and bricked it up with one sentence. We should be grateful to the professional of FC Bayern for that. Because how Löw held him up in the past few weeks, how he slaved around in this staff, was hard to bear.

Thomas Müller had a glimpse of hope. At the end of January in an interview with the ZDF “sports studio” he seemed to sense a comeback in the DFB team. When asked if he could take part in the Olympic Games in August, he said cheerfully that there was another tournament coming up in the summer. By that he meant the 2020 European Championship.

He did not appear to have given up attending the European Championship. Although Müller did not agree that Löw had ended his national team career after 100 international matches in March 2019.

Löw: Müller is a player of “exceptional quality” whose return is “unlikely”

At the beginning of February, Löw even brought up the conversation as a “possible option”, attesting “exceptional quality” and “great merit” – On Sunday, however, it was only said that it was “rather unlikely” that Müller would return to the DFB team. Löw explained on the sidelines of the top Bundesliga game between Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig in an interview with Sky.

The national coach said he was pleased with Müller’s recent marksmanship. Just, to then emphasize again his decision to give younger players the chance.

Jogi Löw wants to bet on other players – including injured players and professionals with little practice

Löw named among others Timo Werner. Rightly so: The 23-year-old from Leipzig currently has 20 goals in the league. But Löw also spoke of the young but injured Leroy Sané. Also from Julian Draxler, 26, who only played nine games for Paris St.-Germain this season. And, to the surprise of many, Löw also spoke of 30-year-old Marco Reuswho is even a few months older than Müller.

Thomas Müller: “I am not interested in this European Championship at all”

After the final whistle, the Bayern star visibly annoyed what he thought of Löw’s egg dance – and what is important to him this season. When asked about Löw’s most recent statement, Müller demonstratively held the crest on his jersey to the camera. He wanted to concentrate on Bayern and win three titles with Munich this season. Before that, he assured: “The national coach has made a decision. I am currently not interested in this European Championship at all.” Basta.

Before Müller’s little spark of EM hope flared up, Löw trampled it out again on Sunday. Emphasis on trample.

Thomas Müller has never resigned from the DFB team. But this statement is almost the same. Thank you, Thomas Müller. The eternal back and forth of the national coach in this personnel has now hopefully come to an end.

Statement by Bayern fans: Südkurve demands that Doro Bär leave the club

No goals were scored in the top Bundesliga game between Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, the game ended 0-0 on Sunday evening. The really big sporting exclamation marks did not appear in the top section.

The bigger an exclamation mark was that Bayern fans set in the south curve.

On a large banner, clearly visible to the right behind the gate, they demanded in the first half: “Release the problem bear for shooting. Schleich di (Bavarian for” you “, the editor) from …
