As FC Thun Berner Oberland announces, after the 2-0 win against FC Aarau, the next duel against FC Sion will take place on Monday, September 25, 2023.
“I like the bite of our team,” says FC Thun President Andres Gerber. You can feel the absolute desire to score goals and be dominant.
“Solidarity and fighting spirit are what characterize us at the moment,” he says, “that makes me confident.”
In addition to the good performances and results, Gerber is particularly pleased that young players from his own offspring can prove themselves in the first team.
“There is a very positive atmosphere and a willingness to learn,” said the president. The people of Thun are currently reaping the fruits of this good work during the week in the league; Mauro Lustrinelli’s team recently won 2-0 against FC Aarau.
Thun looks forward to a bitter second leg victory
Unlike last Friday evening, September 22, 2023, Thun’s last appearance at the Stade de Tourbillon was remembered as a bitter one.
FC Thun won the second leg of the Super League Barrage against FC Sion 3-2, but was still not promoted due to the mortgage from the first leg.
That was in May 2021, more than two years later the Valais club is also a Challenge League participant and is dueling with the Thun team in the league.
“I expect a 50:50 match,” says Gerber.
Team spirit despite failures
Defender Nicola Sutter, who received his fourth yellow card against Aarau, will not be taking part in the top battle in Valais. There are also a few names on the Thuner injury list.
“Of course we would prefer to have everyone there,” says Gerber, “but this way young players will once again be given a chance and can gain valuable experience.”
Andres Gerber is looking forward to the heated atmosphere in the tourbillon: “It won’t be easy, but our team is ready for this top battle.”
The match against FC Sion will kick off on Monday evening, September 25, 2023, at 8:15 p.m.
