FC Porto footballer Pepe underwent conditioning training this Friday, at the start of preparations for the visit to Sporting, on Monday, of the 14th round of the I League, according to the official training note given by the blues and whites.
The central defender and captain became part of the clinical report, along with Iván Marcano and Gabriel Veron, two days after having played in the victory against the Ukrainians of Shakhtar Donetsk (5-3), in the sixth and final round of Group H of the Champions League, which ensured the club’s presence in the round of 16 of the competition.
Pepe, 40, had complained about his right ankle in the last minutes of that match and lay down on the pitch to receive medical assistance shortly after the final whistle from Romanian referee István Kovács.
Left defender João Mendes has returned to the main team, which will continue preparing for the classic on Saturday, at 10:30 am, at the PortoGaia Sports Training and Training Center, in Olival.
Sporting and FC Porto, both equal at the top of the I Liga, with 31 points, face each other on Monday, at 8:15 pm, at Estádio José Alvalade. The classic is refereed by Nuno Almeida.
