9:33 – FC Porto has said goodbye to Iker Casillas. The goalkeeper (39) had an expiring commitment with the Portuguese club and it has not been extended. The routine was struggling with heart problems, but expressed the hope of ever being under the bar again at the Portuguese top club. That does not seem to happen with this message.
More than a year ago, the then 38-year-old goalkeeper was hit by a heart attack, from which he recovered well. Although he also remained registered as a goalkeeper, he was never again in FC Porto’s match selection and his role was limited to that of the technical staff of the Primeira Liga league-leader. However, he will no longer experience the remainder and the (possible) championship party.
More than two months ago, the goalie expressed the hope of making a comeback someday, but also acknowledged his health by far the most important was. It is not known whether he will be looking for a new club after his departure from FC Porto to make minutes in the future.
Casillas practically played his career for Real Madrid, on whose behalf he played more than seven hundred official matches. In 2015 he transferred to FC Porto, where he also held 156 games, but has been sidelined for more than a year due to his heart problems.
