FC Barcelona Wins Gamper Cup 2023 with Impressive Performance by Robert Lewandowski

The match for the Gamper Cup is played every year and for FC Barcelona players it is a ceremonial start of the new season. This match is a tribute to Joan Gamper, the founder, former footballer and president of the club.

This time, the players of the Catalonia Pride faced Tottenham, but not at their own, rebuilt, Camp Nou stadium, but at the Olympic Stadium on the Montjuic hill.

The striker of the Polish national team, who will celebrate his 35th birthday on August 21, probably received the greatest applause and was clearly intimidated.

Most importantly, however, it did not affect his attitude on the pitch. Already in the third minute he used Raphinia’s pass and scored a goal with an excellent left-foot shot from the air.

After that, the team from London did much better. The big advantage brought them two goals. Both were scored by midfielder Oliver Skipp. The 2-1 lead of Tottenham, who played without Harry Kane, who was linked with Bayern Munich, lasted a very long time, until the 81st minute.

Then Lewandowski, who had come down twenty minutes earlier, was no longer on the pitch.

Ferran Torres equalized, and in the 90th minute Ansu Fati scored the third goal for the locals. It was not the end of emotions. A few dozen seconds later, Abde Ezzalzouli scolded the broken players from London.

FC Barcelona therefore won 4:2.

On August 13, with an away match against Getafe, the Catalan pride will start the season and defend the Spanish championship.
